About the Wine

Montereggi is Tuscany’s best-kept secret—a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon made from 50-year-old vines that are absolute legends in their own right. These vines are planted in soils packed with sandstone, skeleton, and galestro, creating a terroir so unique it practically screams flavor.

The result? A Cabernet that’s got serious muscle—deep, intense, and structured, yet effortlessly smooth. This isn’t just a wine; it’s a bold, beautiful experience you’ll want to savor again and again. Montereggi is a must-buy for anyone who loves a wine with true Super Tuscan swagger.

Villa Bibbiani is a true gem in the heart of Tuscany, with over 1300 years of history. Gambero Rosso said it’s “much more than a winery, much more than an estate.” We couldn’t agree more.

The origins of Villa Bibbiani stretch back to the Middle Ages, when the estate belonged to a Benedictine monastery. But its modern history began in the 1700s when it was acquired by the Frescobaldi family—Italian royalty known for founding vineyards and planting the iconic botanical garden (which still thrives today) by Cosimo Ridolfi, the father of modern Italian agriculture.

Today, the estate is owned by a doctor from Houston who sold his San Antonio healthcare group to United Healthcare. He’s spared no expense in upgrading the winery over the past decade, bringing in a young, talented winemaker, and once again, the wines are receiving the critical acclaim they’ve had for centuries.

Leopoldo Morara, Villa Bibbiani’s winemaker, brings expertise from top estates in France, Chile, and New Zealand. He’s been leading the winemaking team since 2018, and his passion for the craft shines through in every bottle. Leopoldo says, “The key to making good wine is maximum respect for the terroir, and we work solely along these lines.”

Villa Bibbiani is in a magical place that’s even been captured in Leonardo da Vinci’s art. Set in the hills of Montalbano, between Capraia and Limite, this sprawling property covers 1,000 acres, including the famous Villa (a 5-star accommodation), botanical gardens, olive orchards, vineyards, and an ancient cellar. The property boasts rich flora, fauna, and biodiversity, making it a truly unique estate.

The vineyards stretch from the slopes of Montalbano Hill to the Church of San Jacopo in Pulignano. They are planted with Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon, and other native grapes, with vines ranging from 20 to 50 years old. This diversity in grape varieties gives the wine complexity and depth that reflect the unique terroir of this extraordinary region.

Villa Bibbiani is the perfect combination of tradition and modernity. The state-of-the-art vinification area and the ancient cellar, paired with Tuscan winemaking tradition, create exceptional wines that are both surprising and unforgettable.

OVW directly imports Villa Bibbiani's wines, offering the lowest price anywhere, available exclusively through One Vine Wines.

Aging: 8 months in French oak barrels followed by six months in large 25-hectolitre barrels.

Tasting Notes

100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Solid and deep. This powerful wine has a very intense ruby-red color. A complex nose of Italian herbs combined with hints of espresso and mocha. In the mouth, it is pervasive and gives long-lasting flavors (this wine will surely age well into 2036) with raspberry and red currants. With a great personality and a high potential for aging, it is a genuine expression of a Cabernet Sauvignon. There’s a YUM factor here. I love it. Critics should have rated this 95 points!

~96 Luca Maroni, I Migliori Vini Italiani, Italy's Best Wines Guide

Baked blackberries, walnuts and herbs on the nose, plus a touch of mocha. It’s creamy and flavorful with a full body and well-integrated tannins. Vanilla and spice undertones linger at the end. Drink now or hold. ~91 James Suckling
