About the Wine
Haut Musset is an up-and-coming Bordeaux Chateau that “you’d be wise to keep an eye on.” This small, ten-acre estate, was previously run by Jerome Aguirre and his wife Veronique Abbadie, and in 2014, acquired by Jacques Rambeau. This is a highly praised parcel of land located in the majestic Montage-Saint Emilion, which sits a stones throw away from the much more pricey St. Emilion.
Rambeaudhas vineyards in some of the most special appellations in Saint Emilion in Montagne Saint-Emilion and Saint George. Their main cellar is located 1 mile from Petrus and Cheval Blanc, and 2 miles away from Figeac (talk about special locations!).
Driven by goals of innovation, authenticity, and sustainability, Rambeau “listens to nature” and “adapts to its particularities by remaining attentive to it at all times.”Pride in the terroir is what moves them forward, as their land is full of Pomerol’s signature “crasse de fer”, which is the local name for the iron-rich clay found in the soils. This distinct clay is thought to be responsible for the notable aromas and texture found in the region's Merlot.
This superb Bordeaux is an unquestionably notable wine. Named a “powerful and expressive” wine, it’s no surprise it was awarded 91 points by James Suckling. A stunning, medium-bodied wine, this pairs well with chicken parmesan or soft baked brie.
"Amazing Value" and "Saint-Emilion" are two words that usually don't go together in the same sentence. So you can imagine the greatest excitement that we have in bringing you this lovely wine from a satellite of Saint Emilion.
Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Ripe blackberry and plum on the nose, with hints of chocolate and wet earth. A fruit core is assisted by thick tannins with a rich finish.
