About the Wine

There are two goals with Metrick: “First, to make fresh and elegant wines that represent their amazing terroir. Second, to test techniques on how to best craft wines so that they most accurately represent their vineyards.”

Metrick’s owner, Alex, is a passionate businessman in the wine industry. He previously owned a very successful Spanish import company called Alexandre Jules, and he currently writes for various wine magazines. But his main passion is and has always been producing rare and unique wines. His ambition is to create high-toned, "mineral" whites and earthier, herbal reds.

He selects grapes from different vineyards in California where they usually have marked coastal influence. In the cellar, he uses minimal intervention winemaking, where he lets the grapes speak for themselves, and show all their potential and glory.

stripped-down Chardonnay from one of the most historic vineyards in Santa Barbra county, a vineyard that was originally planted in 1971.

The vineyard has sandy soils and receives constant cooling winds from the nearby Pacific. Sourced, picked, and made with an eye for creating a pure expression of Chardonnay and the Santa Maria Valley.

Aging: Fermented and aged in stainless steel drums. 10 months on the fine
lees with minimal stirring. Full malolactic fermentation.

Tasting Notes: 100% Chardonnay. Elegant and light, with a touch of classic Santa Maria Valley tropical fruit, a stunning freshness to contrast a mid-weight body. This is a vibrant white wine that will immediately make you fall in love from the very first sip. You'll love to pair it with oysters, sushi, ceviche, or creamy pasta.
